Purpose of study: To provide forest bird habitat association information for migratory birds in south-central Yukon, and evaluate the impacts of forest management practices on forest birds within the Teslin Tlingit Traditional Territory. Ten-minute, 75m-radius point counts were conducted at 14 sites in 2009 (10 stations per site, 140 stations total) and at 19 sites in 2010 (2-19 stations per site, 197 stations total). Each count was comprised of two, five minute periods to total 10 minutes. During each count, all birds detected by sight or sound within 75 m of the observer were recorded and positioned on a point count mapsheet, and their behaviour, age and sex were recorded, when possible. Detections were assigned to one of 4 distance bands – 0-25m, 25-50m, 50-75m, >75m. Some of Mike Gill’s sites were resurveyed (see below), and several new sites were added in 2009 and 2010. Some stations at some sites (Border, Brooks, Hays, HaysNorth, Hermit, Morley, Pine, Strawberry, TrasNorth, TrasSouth) were surveyed by Mike Gill (CWS-Yukon) in 2000 through 2003. Those data are in a separate dataset. Complete bilingual metadata including detailed survey design, protocols and data dictionaries…
