Landscape of museum collections online

The Landscape of Museum Collections Online project was originally an internal project intended to help the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) better understand the capacity and digital transition of museums and heritage institutions managing collections in Canada. This dataset consists of a list of heritage institutions, each represented by a unique identifier, along with a set of attributes providing information on the institution's online collections, web presence, and organizational capacity for digital initiatives. In addition to data collected by CHIN the dataset also includes: (1) data on the presence of analyzed institutions in other data sources; (2) two attributes generated via spatial analysis; and (3) two attributes to facilitate the merging with other relevant datasets. The dataset is made public here for re-use under an open government license. Resources below include: (1) the original dataset and technical documentation in both official languages; (2) an updated dataset (unanonymized) and technical documentation in both official languages; (3) a link to our bulletin series exploring the dataset
