Rental Standards Building Evaluations

The Rental Apartment Buildings By-law 0089-2022 established strengthened inspection powers for Municipal Law Enforcement Officers (MLEOs), including the ability to conduct scheduled proactive inspections of common areas known as evaluations and audits. The scope of the By-law includes buildings that contain at least two (2) storeys and six (6) units that share a common area. Condominiums, registered long-term care homes, licensed retirement homes and housing co-operatives are excluded. The Rental Standards data presents an overview of the buildings in scope of the pilot program listing their locations, Ward, Zone, number of rental units, property use status, registration status, current evaluation score, evaluation report, next scheduled evaluation, number of service requests, if the service request resulted in enforcement action and if the enforcement investigation is open or closed.
