Consultation on the Fourth Annual Regulatory Modernization Bill: Keeping Pace with Change

From March 27 to June 19, 2023, the Government of Canada invited stakeholders to share their views in the Annual Regulatory Modernization Bill (ARMB) public consultation aimed at enhancing regulatory processes. As regulators develop or update regulations to meet various objectives, such as protecting the environment, health, and safety, the Bill outlines considerations to reduce duplicative process and streamline the regulatory lifecycle for Canadian businesses. The consultation sought feedback on the proposal to authorize all federal regulatory organizations to establish sandboxes that facilitate innovative regulatory approaches. It also gathered input on the incorporation by reference (IBR) of internal government documents to remove unnecessary duplicative paperwork associated with each regulatory update. The intent of the consultation is to assist policymakers in understanding potential stakeholder feedback on improving regulatory efficiency and effectiveness.
