The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) was developed as part of the Department’s commitment to protection of personal information. It also meets the Management of Information Technology Security requirements obligating departmental major services to undergo a security and privacy assessment at this point. The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) that has been completed is directed at the PeopleSoft Government of Canada Human Resources Management System version 8.9 that has been implemented at DFAIT. It (PIA) evaluates whether the Human Resources Management System (GC HRMS) complies with privacy requirements. The focus of the assessment is on personal information collected, used, disclosed and retained within the system. It does not encompass HR–related information that exists outside of HRMS, nor does it depict information within the system that is not considered "personal" as per the Privacy Act.
