The Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) extends across much of southern Manitoba and hosts significant resources, including hydrocarbons and various minerals. Increasing interest in groundwater management further underscores the need for a better understanding of subsurface geology, including rock layer geometry, layer connectivity, and the distribution of physical properties in the basin. To address this, a new three-dimensional geological model of the Manitoba portion of the WCSB was developed to enable comprehensive visualization and interpretation of subsurface structures. The model comprises 43 geological layers: 41 sedimentary units spanning from the Cambrian to the Upper Cretaceous, the Precambrian basement, and a preliminary representation of Quaternary sediments. It incorporates eight major unconformities, including the base of Quaternary deposits and the top of Precambrian bedrock. Model construction utilized data from hydrocarbon wells, regional bedrock maps, cross-sections, and previous studies of Phanerozoic strata. A combination of modeling techniques was applied using Gocad/SKUA; geomodelling software to produce the 3D model of the WCSB in Manitoba.
