Evaluation of the Strengthening Girls’ Capacities Through Sport and Play in Senegal (RECAF-Jeu) project - Executive summary

The project “Strengthening Girls’ Capacities Through Sport and Play (RECAF-Jeu)” is an initiative of the Canadian NGO Right To Play (RTP) aimed at supporting the empowerment of adolescent girls and young women in Ziguinchor and Sédhiou, Senegal, over a five-year period (2021–2026). In other words, the RECAF-Jeu project, with a total budget of CAD 9,078,809 (including a contribution of CAD 8,671,322 from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, aims to raise partners’ awareness of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), gender equality, and positive masculinity, and to train them in RTP’s playful approaches, tools, and methodologies. With a view to taking stock of the implementation of this initiative, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) deemed it appropriate to commission a formative evaluation of the RECAF-Jeu project.
