Postal codes and territories — postal code geolocation table
The CP Territories file (formerly distributed under the name AQGéoPostal) is based on data from the Quebec Address Repository (RQA) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests (MRNF). This table developed by the Institut de la Statistique du Québec (ISQ) allows the correspondence of data by postal code with various territorial divisions of Quebec (municipalities, regional county municipalities [MRC], administrative regions, administrative regions, provincial electoral districts, etc.). CP Territories allows you to geocode Quebec postal codes. Geocoding is an operation that consists in precisely locating a phenomenon in the territory according to its characteristics; in this case, the postal code is the main characteristic studied. Geocoding is a task that can be automated to process several thousand observations. The proposed tool is presented in tabular form. It can be easily integrated into the software solution, which makes it possible to match data according to a particular administrative division. CP Territories is updated quarterly using the most recent data and the latest versions of administrative divisions.
