REGDOC-1.2.2 - Licence Application Guide: Class IB Processing Facilities

This licence application guide identifies the information to be provided in support of an application for a licence to prepare a site for, construct, operate or decommission a Class IB nuclear facility for: • processing, reprocessing or separation of an isotope of uranium, thorium or plutonium; • the manufacturing of a product from uranium, thorium or plutonium; or • processing or use, in a quantity greater than 1015 Bq per calendar year, of nuclear substances other than uranium, thorium or plutonium This guide sets out requirements and guidance on submitting a formal application to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) to obtain a licence. Following the information in this regulatory document will prepare applicants to submit the appropriate information to demonstrate that they are qualified and will make adequate provisions for the protection of the environment and the health and safety of persons and the maintenance of national security and measures required to implement international obligations to which Canada has agreed.
