Sawmills

Contained within the 3rd Edition (1957) of the Atlas of Canada is a map that shows condensed maps of distributed sawmills in Canada, circa 1951. There are two main maps, one displaying the Western provinces of Canada, and the other southern Ontario, and Eastern provinces. In the Western provinces, Vancouver Island and surrounding areas are displayed in a larger scale window in the corner. The map of Eastern provinces created a large scale map of the northern section of Newfoundland. Parts of the Northwest Territories are displayed in a third window at the top of the plate. The Sawmills are represented by individual symbols in four size classes which are based on 1951 production.
