Housing approvals dashboard

The dashboard was created following a Council direction to monitor both Planning Act application approvals and building permits issued for new dwellings. Since Q1 2023, City staff have been reporting these figures quarterly to the Planning and Housing Committee in the Residential Dwelling Approvals Pipeline as a PDF. The new housing approvals dashboard replaces the Residential Dwelling Approvals Pipeline PDF reports and presents data in a more accessible, engaging, and user-friendly format that is more readily available to residents, developers, and housing stakeholders across the city. The housing approvals dashboard indicators reflect the full housing development pipeline, from planning approvals to building permits, dwelling construction starts, dwelling construction completions, as well as Planning Act application timelines. The housing approvals dashboard visuals are interactive, allowing users to explore trends by ward, dwelling type, and time period.
