Corporate Greenhouse Gas Emissions | Squamish Community Dashboard This indicator tracks annual GHGe generated through local government operations - from services delivered directly by the municipality, as well as those contracted by the District of Squamish. They include emissions produced as a result of "traditional services" such as: fire protection; solid waste management; recreational and cultural services; road and traffic operations; water and wastewater management; and local government administration. Emissions are measured as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e): A unit that expresses any greenhouse gas in terms of its global warming potential, using carbon dioxide as the baseline measure. This is expressed as metric tonnes of CO2e. About this target: An 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions below 2007 levels is targeted by 2050, per BC's Climate Action Legislation (Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Act). Community GHG emission reductions targets are under development for adoption by December 2019 (Council Strategic Plan). Analysis: In 2021 corporate emissions were approximately 1,367 tonnes CO2e.
