Discover Kingston's K&P Trail

The Kingston to Pembroke Railway was nicknamed the "Kick and Push". The rail line was only built as far north as Renfrew, despite its name. The "Providence" took an inaugural journey on June 17, 1875 from Kingston and traveled to Sharbot Lake. Passenger service brought people to downtown Kingston. Passengers would arrive at the K&P Station (now the Kingston Tourist Bureau). Freight trains brought ore and timber to Kingston's Inner Harbour and industrial works yards on Ontario Street. Rail access to downtown ended in 1974.
