Employment Insurance Beneficiaries
Important notes about the data found in the description. This table contains monthly estimates on the number of beneficiaries of the Employment Insurance (EI) program from January 2000 onward. The data is not adjusted for seasonality. This means that recurring trends are not adjusted for, such as holidays, institutional decisions, or climatic events. Changes in the data do not only reflect only changes in the labour market. The data may also change due to changes in the Employment Insurance Act (for example, a new benefit program is introduced) or administrative practises. The count of beneficiaries includes those on regular employment insurance and those participating in the three employment benefit programs: Skills Development Program, Job Creation Partnerships Program, and Self-employment Program.
