Wastewater Treatment Plant Bypass Events

In older areas of Hamilton, a combined sewer system collects both storm water and wastewater. During heavy rainfalls or snowmelt, combined sewers carry large volumes of storm water that can exceed their capacity. Due to the large volume, wastewater may be required to bypass one of the Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) and these events are tracked by timing, duration and volume per WWTP.
