Health Behaviours: Population Who Were Overweight, 1996 to 1997

Many health professionals in Canada consider that obesity has reached or is nearing epidemic proportions in this country. Most scientific evidence is supportive of physical activity as a positive determinant. Greater health benefits can be achieved by increasing the amount; duration, frequency, or intensity-of physical activity. Lack of physical activity has negative health consequences. Population in the Atlantic Provinces tends to be more overweight and inactive, at least in relative terms.
