Regional-Scale Dispersion Modeling of Emissions, Concentrations, and Deposition of Trace Elements and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Oil Sands Region

Regional-scale distributions of atmospheric concentration and deposition of various pollutants in the Athabasca oil sands region (AOSR) in northern Alberta, Canada need to be quantified to assess the potential impacts of oil sands related activities on human and ecosystem health. Using a dispersion modelling approach, regional-scale distributions of annual emissions and ambient concentrations of two groups of pollutants, including trace particulate elements and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), were generated for the Athabasca Oil Sands Region (AOSR) in northern Alberta, Canada. Regional-scale atmospheric deposition of these pollutants was subsequently estimated by combining the modelled ambient concentrations with a separately developed deposition framework. This directory contains four datasets organized into four subdirectories: (i) Regional-scale annual emissions for 29 particulate elements (ii) Regional-scale annual emissions for 16 PAH and 21 Alkylated PAHs (iii) Regional-scale annual ambient concentration and dry and wet deposition for 27 particulate elements (iv) Regional-scale annual ambient concentration and dry and wet deposition for 16 PAHs and 21 Alkylated PAHs.
