City of Winnipeg energy use and greenhouse gas emissions

This data set contains the results of energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories for 2015 to present. This data supports the City's efforts to meet climate mitigation and adaptation goals found in the Winnipeg Climate Action Plan (https://www.winnipeg.ca/services-programs/trees-environment/climate-action/winnipegs-climate-action-plan) and the Community Energy Investment Roadmap (https://www.winnipeg.ca/services-programs/trees-environment/climate-action/community-energy-investment-roadmap). Changes to process and inclusion of new data has made inter-year comparisons imperfect but useful. As more data is added the City reevaluates previous inventories, and updates them according to the previous scope. Because of this, previous years' inventoried amounts may change from year to year. Since the previous release of climate data in 2022, the scope of waste being included has expanded to all waste being landfilled at the Brady Road Resource Management Facility. This has more than doubled the GHGs included in the inventories.
