This study examined the presence and effect of micro and nanoplastics in an urban environment on the freshwater mussel, Elliptio complanata. Mussels were collected from a pristine lake located in the Laurentians region in Quebec, Canada, and placed in three locations in the St. Lawrence River around the City of Montreal. Mussels were exposed for a period of three months, after which they were collected, sacrificed, and analysed.
