The British Columbia Arts Council is an independent agency that supports arts and cultural activities including professional dance companies, art galleries, local museums and music festivals in communities across British Columbia. A critical part of the BC Arts Council mandate is to support arts and culture across the province by awarding grants to individuals or organizations in support of thriving arts and cultural communities throughout British Columbia. Awards are provided to individual artists and cultural organizations, including those focusing on specific or inter-related disciplines such as dance, media arts, publishing, literary arts, creative writing, theatre, performance art, music, museums, community engaged arts, visual arts and arts training. This dataset is a listing of supplemental awards and funding provided by the BC Arts Council, as well as their partner organizations, for the year 2008 - 2009.
