Spatial climate research in Canada relies on advanced, high-quality gridded datasets that offer comprehensive records of temperature and precipitation across the country. These datasets provide the foundation for scientific studies by delivering spatially consistent and homogenized climate information, making it possible to accurately analyze trends, variability, and extremes over time and space. Available datasets include the following: The Canadian Gridded Homogenized datasets (CanGrid) provide homogenized monthly and/or daily values for temperature or precipitation gridded on a 10-kilometre grid using an advanced kriging-based interpolation technique. These represent the latest generation of gridded datasets and are the most suitable for assessments of historical climate change and variability. The Canadian Gridded Anomalies datasets (CANGRD) [https://catalogue.ec.gc.ca/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/3d4b68a5-13bc-48bb-ad10-801128aa6604] provide gridded anomalies from historical annual, seasonal and monthly averages based on homogenized temperature or adjusted precipitation data on an approximately 50-km grid. These datasets were used to support climate monitoring…
