The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) was developed as part of the Department’s commitment to protection of personal information. It also meets the Management of Information Technology Security requirements obligating departmental major services to undergo a security and privacy assessment at this point. The Global Commerce Support Program (GCSP) was established in December 2008 in an effort to be more consistent with Canada’s international commercial policy framework, the Global Commerce Strategy (GCS). The objective of the GCS is to position Canada as a world leader in the highly competitive global economy of today by strengthening the environment and support system for Canadian firms to participate in global commerce, thereby enhancing Canada’s productivity and competitiveness.
