This study evaluated the effects of bisphenol A exposure on the freshwater snail Planorbella pilsbryi using metabolomics to identify perturbations in metabolites and lipids at the molecular level. Snails were exposed to bisphenol A in a chronic 28-day test and the tissue was collected for analysis at the end of the exposure. The analytical approach involved a liquid-liquid extraction of the tissues, the detection and annotation of metabolites and lipids using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry, and overrepresentation analysis to identify those biological pathways affected by the exposure. A manuscript describing methods, processes, and conclusions has been submitted for peer-review will be published in the near future. Supplemental Information The Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) is a Government of Canada initiative aimed at reducing the risks posed by chemicals to Canadians and their environment. A key element of the Chemicals Management Plan is the monitoring and surveillance of levels of harmful chemicals in Canadians and their environment. Monitoring and surveillance are essential to identify and track exposure to hazards in the environment and associated health…
