The ecological hazard and exposure potentials of 4 of the 12 substances in the Resins and Rosins Group were classified using the Ecological Risk Classification of Organic Substances (ERC) Approach. The Government concluded that tall oil (CAS RN 8002-26-4), specifically on the basis of risk presented by crude tall oil (CTO), is harmful to the environment, but not to human health.
