This dataset provides information related to the top-spending off-mine-site exploration and deposit appraisal projects in Canada for the given reference year. The dataset is maintained by the Lands and Minerals Sector, Natural Resources Canada, and forms the basis for the annual Map of Top 100 Exploration and Deposit Appraisal Projects in Canada. Spending includes field work; associated overhead costs; engineering, feasibility and economic studies; environment and land access costs. Excludes active mine sites, surrounding areas and activities at mines committed to production. However, may include closed mines. Projects may represent a single property or a group of properties or claims. The primary mineral product is identified, but other minerals and metals may be present.
