Summary Safety Review - Proton Pump Inhibitors - Assessing the Potential Risk of Clostridium difficile Infection

This safety review was carried out to look at new information in the scientific literature that has emerged since the completion of a previous review in 2012 about the risk of Clostridium difficile infection with proton pump inhibitor use. Clostridium difficile infection ranges from mild diarrhea to life-threatening multi-organ failure, especially in elderly patients with other pre-existing conditions.
