The position notes are the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's (RCMP) response to the Mass Casualty Commission (MCC) recommendations. The positions taken by the RCMP are in line with its existing mandate and authorities, and does not speak to a possible position taken by the Government of Canada writ large. For greater clarity, decisions may be taken outside RCMP control that may impact or change this position in the future.
